The Stumpers Wins Burgess Award

We were delighted to learn recently that The Stumpers has been named a winner of the Gelett Burgess Children’s Book Award. Karima Cammell’s tale of a family of cooperative and caring woodland people claimed this year’s prize for Early Reader Fiction. What makes us especially proud to receive this honor is the fact that Gelett Burgess himself was an outspoken defender of free-thinking and irreverent literature. He was also a champion for Bay Area children in the early 1900s, founding the organization that would become the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco. Learn more about him, the Gelett Burgess Children’s Book Awards, and this year’s winners at gelettburgesscenter.com.
